Each of the six New England States have buildings that they own on the Avenue of States on the western side of the fair grounds. Listen to this program as the moderators from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine talk about their state's part in the fair. The Eastern States Exposition or BigE Fair that's held for two weeks at the end of every Sept and beginning of October. Located in West Springfield, Massachusetts, on 175 acres, Eastern States Exposition is home to more than 100 shows and events including The Big E, the largest fair in the Northeast, as well as Storrowton Village Museum and Storrowton Tavern, which are open year-round. Eastern States Exposition was founded in 1916 and is a not-for-profit agricultural, educational institution. The original purpose was to set aside time in the Fall for the New England agricultural community to celebrate the harvest and share new technology.
