Today's cities are facing many common challenges in the areas of safety, emissions, accessibility, and congestion. Detroit's NextEnergy thinks innovation is an important mechanism to proactively address the challenges facing cities to identify opportunities for new business models. Therefore, the non-profit has developed a national competition NextChallenge: Smart Cities which focuses on accelerating connected, interactive and data driven solutions in advanced energy and mobility that addresses the needs in urban areas. Through this challenge, innovations will be demonstrated that create more efficient places for people to live and work - and have a lower impact on the environment.

Join host Melissa Birnie and her guest, Jean Redfield, CEO of NextEnergy on Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00 p.m. as they discuss the competition, the upcoming webinar to learn more about the competition, and the difference the submitted innovations will likely make in urban communities.
