Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo could be out for the season

By Bryan Houston and Matthew Postins

News broke late Monday afternoon that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had undergone an MRI on his back, and was diagnosed with a herniated disk that may require season ending surgery. The news comes just days before the Cowboys are to play the Philadelphia Eagles in a de facto NFC East Championship game, with the winner making the playoffs and hosting a first round game next weekend.

At an early evening press conference, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garret would not confirm Romo had been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the Eagles but would only suggest the quarterback would be evaluated daily throughout the week to determine his status for Sunday. If Romo is indeed inactive for the game with the Eagles, backup quarterback Kyle Orton would get the start while the Cowboys look to sign a free agent to be their number two signal caller behind Orton.

Rattle and Hum Sports’ Dallas Cowboys Columnist Matthew Postins joins host Bryan Houston tonight at 7:30 pm CT to cover the shocking news coming out of Valley Ranch.
