A Look Back at Week One of 2014 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

By Bryan Houston and Matthew Postins

RattleandHumSports.com podcast host Bryan Houston is joined by Dallas Cowboys writer Matthew Postins to recap week one of Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, CA.

An injury to second round pick Demarcus Lawrence may be the biggest news from camp so far, as the rookie defensive end could miss up to three months after suffering a broken foot early this week. The team signed defensive end Ken Boatright, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, to a two year contract Friday. What other options do the Cowboys have to replace Lawrence, who had suggested he could have as many as 10 sacks in his rookie campaign?

The defense suffered another blow Wednesday when cornerback and former first round pick Morris Claiborne sustained a knee injury, keeping the often-injured and underachieving defensive back out of practice Thursday. Claiborne remains day-to-day heading into Saturday's practice after the team took a scheduled day off Friday.

Tony Romo was held out of practice some this week for precautionary reasons. Should this be cause for alarm for Cowboys Nation?

The Cowboys signed Tyron Smith to an eight year contract extension. What makes this a good deal for both the team and Smith?

Finally, what can we expect to see as things get ramped up even more next week before the Cowboys preseason opener at San Diego?
