September was proclaimed by President Barack Obama as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in 2011.  Sadly, his mother, American Anthropologist Ann Dunham died in 1995 of Uterine and Ovarian Cancer, at the age of only 52. Her initial symptom was abdominal pain which was first diagnosed as indigestion.

One reason that ovarian cancer is the deadliest cancer of the female reproductive system is that too often, as with Ann Dunham, it first presents itself with mild, vague symptoms after growing undetected for long periods of time.  With your knowledge of this deadly disease, you and your family may be able to stop this killer in its tracks.
