Amy DuBois Barnett is a senior media executive, award-winning journalist and brand development expert with 18 years of broad experience in all aspects of: content strategy, integrated marketing, brand expansion, business development, video production, creative direction, online product merchandising and revenue generation. 

She was the editor in chief of Ebony magazine; prior to her editorship at Ebony magazine, Amy held various positions that showcased her exceptional abilities in the field of journalism. Her first time working for a magazine was while she was pursuing her MFA in creative writing at Columbia University. Amy wrote for the Fashion’s Almanac where she wrote about her interest in fashion. The Fashion’s Almanac analyzes and critiques the lasts fashion trends of the season. It publishes articles about the most popular look of the season. She was originally interested in going into the fashion industry. Writing for the Fashion’s Almanac is where she discovered her talents in journalism. After earning her M.F.A Barnett went on to be the Deputy Editor of Harper’s Bazaar, the Editor in chief of Honey magazine, the Managing editor of Teen People and then worked with Essence magazine before joining the editing team at Ebony.

For her outstanding work at Ebony as well as her other editing positions, Barnett received eight Salute to Excellence Awards in 2012 as well as the Media Executive of the Year in 2012 by Target Market News.

Barnett is also the author Get Yours!: How to Have Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More (published by a division of Random House).
