Tuweni T’aPsni: They Never Died at Wounded Knee

Journalist, Suzanne Marcus Fletcher, interviews "Chase" Iron Eyes, a grassroots leader and key member of the The Great Sioux Nation of South Dakota, with special guest, Joseph J. Brings Plenty Sr., this Thursday, Jan. 10th at 1:00 PM PST on The Body Politic. This show specifically focuses on the Sioux Nations' Pro-Activities and Healing Advocacy with regard to the survivors of the hundreds of Sioux who perished in the Wounded Knee Massacre on Dec. 29th 1890 at Wounded Knee Creek near the Pine Ridge Reservation. According to an article just released on LastRealIndians.com bearing the title: "Tuweni Tsa Obsni: They never Died." The author reports, “On December 29th 2012 through the 31st, the first Annual Survivors’ Run from Wounded Knee to Takini South Dakota took place. Descendants of survivors of The Wounded Knee Massacre, men, women, children and elders gathered together in Wounded Knee toward Takini.  Runners trekked 179 miles in the cold winter air as a reminder that, the journey of some of our relatives didn’t end at the Wounded Knee Massacre sight."  Fletcher will be discussing how this first historic run, and future Memorial endeavors, are intended to support and aid the healing of the Great Sioux Ancestors of those who died in an American genocide we now refer to as "Wounded Knee."
