In tonight's segment I revisit a fandom that was briefly touched upon last year during my interview with the author Fembuck. "Popular" was perhaps an ironic title, considering it only lasted two seasons on what was then a fifth-place network. (Well, actually it's still a fifth-place network, whether you call it the WB or the CW, but that's neither here nor there.) But maybe you gauge a show's popularity not by its ratings success, but rather in the number of years it maintains a hold on its fans. If that's the case, then "Popular" wasn't such a bad name after all. And nothing seems to be more popular about the show than the non-canon pairing of its two lead characters, Sam MacPherson (Carly Pope) and Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb). Granted, the romance may sound a bit unlikely. Two teenagers on opposite ends of the high school totem pole, forced to share a house and a bathroom when their parents suddenly marry. Yes, that's right, stepsisters. Despite these obstacles, or maybe because of them, multiple talented authors have appeared over the years to keep both Popular and Sam/Brooke alive. I'll be interviewing two of them tonight - Carpesomediem, who has written too many stories to list; and Green Quarter, author of the "Ever Fixed Mark" series. (Green Quarter cannot appear live, so she has supplied her answers in advance, and they will be read over the air by fellow author and past guest Grdnofevrythng.)
