Granted, being a dramatic series on the WB television network at the beginning of the 21st-century meant having little experience with high ratings (as you try desperately to attract an audience that would get you cancelled after thirteen episodes on NBC) and critical acclaim (example #1 - zero Emmy nominations for Season Five of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). But "Gilmore Girls", which lasted a whopping six seasons (seven if you count the last one, which many try not to) on a fifth-place network, and helped make stars out of Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, came about as close as a WB show could get to being high-rated and critically acclaimed. Fans loved the complicated family drama of single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her parents Emily and Richard. And let's not forget daughter Rory's love triangle with Dean and Jess . . . well, actually many fans would love to forget Dean and Jess (ESPECIALLY Dean), and focus more attention on Paris (Liza Weil) Geller. At first Rory's archrival at school, but later her best friend there, Paris quickly became a favorite thanks to her personality and wit, not to mention a popular match for Rory with femslash authors everywhere. Tonight I'll talk with two of them - MrSchimpf, creator of the epic (and at times intensely erotic) "Longing With a Cherry Tomato on Top" series; and author of the two-part "A Little Satisfaction" UbiquitousMixie. We'll talk about the appeal of Rory/Paris, as well as the more forbidden pairing of Lorelai/Paris.
