Dr. Anderson has been a full-time professor at PBSC since January 2008.  Her Ph.D. is in psychological development, with a minor in personality and women's psychology.  Her dissertation focused on African American women in the Black Church:  Psychological coping and intrinsic religious motivation.  Her research during the past 18 years has been in Eating Disorders of African American Women, health of African American women, self-esteem, and religion.  Recently she has written a paper, to be published August 31, 2015 on The Psychological, Economic, and Sociological Roots of Violence: A Multidisiciplinary Approach.
Dr. Anderson has taught a variety of courses in her career such as Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Health Psychology, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Psychology of Women, Research Methods in Social Science, and General Psychology. She is advisor to Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Dr. Anderson is a certified to teach Leadership Development Studies: A Humanities Approach by Phi Theta Kappa. She teaches SLS2261 in the Fall semester on the Boca Campus. Dr. Anderson is a senator to United Faculty of Florida, and PBSC's union. She was awarded Dissertation of the Year from New York University's Women's Studies Commission and served as the doctoral representative for the Ph.D. class on 1997 at NYU's commencement. Dr. Anderson is the President of the National Council on Black American Affairs at the Boca Raton campus of Palm Beach State College.
