There is much debate over same-sex marriage in the United States. Think back to last year and Prop 8 in CA that said it would no longer recognize same-sex marriages as valid. There are several dynamics to this controversial topic that I would like to discuss. Is same-sex marriage a moral or legal issue? If moral, why should the courts be involved? If legal, how much control or regulation should the courts have? Is it just a matter of ethics? As a straight person, should I be concerned? How will same-sex marriage affect society? Should the traditional concept and the same-sex concept of marriage be taught in public schools? And point blank; why is it such a big deal? I chose this topic not because of its controversial nature but rather to find out what everyday people like you and me think about same-sex marriage. This is not a show to bash homosexuality or persuade one’s opinion for or against. My hope is to provoke intelligent and mature conversation about a topic that people feel strongly about and has been the focal point of human rights for a very long time. Please submit your comments to keepnitrealwitkimp@gmail.com or call in during the show with your questions or comments to (347) 826-9214. And as always, my only request is that, like the name of the show says; you keep it real.
