If you’ve ever watched a marathon or a triathlon event and thought, “I could never do that!” – you could be right. A recent discovery proves that some people’s genes just make them bad at running.

For most people training helps increase stamina, but for one in five, no matter how hard they push themselves they will never improve and may even get worse.

Despite this, sport of distance running is still moving full stride with a record number of competitors aiming to qualify for the coveted Boston Marathon. Triathlon participation in North America is at an all-time high, following unprecedented growth beyond the past decade.

Did you know that 40% of the field at an Ironman event are first-time participants? Dr. Danielle Marr recently tackled her first Ironman Triathlon after training for and crossing the finish line at several marathons.

As our next guest, she shares her experience, knowledge and guidance to help lay the groundwork for anyone wishing to attempt either of these grueling and taxing athletic performances.

We’re LIVE on Wednesday October 9, 2013 @ 7PM EST at BEYONDtheCheers
