Mental Illness Awareness Week 2012: Oct. 7-13, 2012.

In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) in recognition of NAMI's efforts to raise mental illness awareness.

Since 1990, mental health advocates across the country have joined together during the first full week of October in sponsoring many kinds of activities. In recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) during this episode, Lady Charmaine Day will discuss mental illness, in particular bipolar disorder one mental illness that impacts over 10 million Americans and more worldwide. She will discuss the symptoms of bipolar disorder, treatments and her own personal road of recovery with the disease.
