End-of-Life Conversations: Why We Need to Have Them Today

My guest, WGN Reporter Randi Belisomo, lost her 36-year-old husband, Carlos Hernandez Gomez, to colon cancer in January 2010. It was at a critical time-- when a decision on whether or not to keep Carlos on life support had to be made--that Randi realized how she and her husband had never had those all-important end-of-life conversations.

Today, alongwith her husband's medical doctor Mary Mulcahy, she has started Life Matters Media, an initiative to encourage individuals to discuss end-of-life decisions in a preemptive way to meet death with more dignity.
