What is the Gospel? According to 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, the Gospel is embodied in these words: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

1 Corinthians 2:2 says, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified."

David Nicholas, the late pastor and founder of Gospel Boot Camps, broke down and explained 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 phrase-by-phrase. He continues: "‘That he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures’ tells us that the Resurrection is essential in the Gospel presentation because it proves that Jesus has overcome sin and death. Jesus would still be dead if just one sin was left in him, because the wages of sin is death. Therefore, the Gospel is the truth that we are all sinners or criminals before God, and under the sentence of eternal death or separation from God and all that is good. In His love for us, God the Father sent God the Son to earth to become a man. Jesus was born without a sin nature, and lived a sinless life. He allowed himself to be crucified, and as He hung on the Cross, God the Father took all of my sins, put them on Jesus and punished Him in my place."
