When writing policies and procedures it is dangerous to assume that the only persons using the information will be internal parties. Companies that fail to acknowledge or communicate the information that a customer or vendor needs in a policy or procedure is failing to understand the importance of communication with external parties. Typically procedures are focused on the needs of internal users, but it is important to consider the needs of external parties also.
