Open Rant: Reality vs. Negativity

What is the difference between keeping it real and being a hater? Is there a way to realistic explain something without being a hater? The reason this is on my mind because recently I have realize many folks referring to others in the community as being haters or being negative when it my reality it seems more like they are just keeping it real.
