Fire and Ice will discuss the scientific, neurobiological outlook of trauma to the brain when a survivor has been exposed to sexual assault and/or domestic violence. The brain is a powerful organ that houses memories. When trauma strikes, the brain responds in a certain way.
Oftentimes, survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence ask questions such as, "Why can't I get over it?" "Why am I just now remembering what happened?" "Why do I feel like it keeps happening over and over again?" "Why can't I forget about it?"
Let's explore these questions as well as the effects of trauma and possible ways to cope with life after the incident.
