Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
We all have a lens. We see things through our own experiences and with our own bias. Because of that, no two people ever see things exactly the same way, and yet, as coaches, sometimes we assume our clients are experiencing things the way we have or would. It's call perception bias, and it can be very challenging to manage because most people don't know it's running.
When you are in a state of perception bias, (which is almost all the time), it's very difficult to actually listen to a client. You might hear what they are saying, but you run it through the filter of your own experience, and then...
start doing the kind of coaching you need, not necessarily the kind of coaching your client needs.
