Pianist, singer, and songwriter - let's include young visionary in this mix - that's our next guest, Rachel Eckroth.
When you first hear her music, it may be startling. With a voice that lends itself to Jazz, there is more here than meets the ear. Rachel explores the nooks and crannies of what inspires her - the lyrics and the musical content are adventurous. She goes deep into the jungle of Jazz and beyond...allowing you to dive into the wild recesses of a soul. I'm not kidding. It's like that!
Phoenix born, this unique talent was raised by musical parents - her brother also a pianist - so her confidence level was fostered early. By high school, she was known around town. And was mentored by former Count Basie Band vocalist, Dennis Rowland.
Graduating from the University of Nevada, she lingered in the area, backing both Las Vegas based and national performers. An even bigger move to the East Coast...there, she got her MFA from Rutgers University. In Jazz Performance. With international touring under her belt and a wealth of education, she returned to Arizona. And found steady work with a known "name" in the business who also called Phoenix home.
While contemplating her music and where it might take her, literally and figuratively, Rachel decided to take the leap - and recorded her first solo effort. "Mind" featured a Jazz trio and was warmly received. But there was more than she wanted to hear herself write, play and sing. Established again in New York, she built her creativity around the second phase of Rachel Eckroth's destiny. And "Let Go" was born.
A CD release party is looming, buzz is building, and established stars are following her on Twitter. They're watching another star ascend :) Please welcome Rachel on 4/17/2014
