 He was born Joseph Montet Banks January 12, 1965 in Atlanta, Georgia. His family moved to Mauldin, SC in 1977, where there was a growing music scene. At the age of 12, he began playing guitar and hasn’t looked back. During his high school tenure, he was the premier guitar instructor in the area, teaching the guitar stylings/techniques of Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, and others.

Joey Banks has been a local icon in the Greenville, South Carolina music scene for 33-years. In the early years of his long career, Joey started Blazorade, and from there went on to play with Breakdown, Torn Lace, and Queen Anne's Revenge. Influences include Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Neal Schon and Ted Nugent.

Joey is a gifted song writer, and seasoned touring musician. He has collaborated with many famous musicians, producers, writers, and agents including Jani Lane/Warrant, Deep Purple, Pat Travers, Marshall Tucker, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, Mothers Finest, Black Oak Arkansas, and Beau Hill (Engineer for Ratt, Warrant, and Winger), the legendary Doc McGhee (Producer/Manager for Bon Jovi, Motley Crue), and the list goes on! 

Joey's repertoire features a wide array of original songs, spanning his nearly 33-years in the business, as well as an endless list of covers from ALL music genres.

Joey has toured the U.S. under management of Showtime Talent Agency, Raleigh, NC, and achieving rave reviews as a standout with his amazing guitar skills.

He has performed with such acts as Warrant, Molly Hatchet, and Mother's Finest.

In 2014 he performed for the troops in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Has recorded 3 CDs - Soul Good (2011) and Soul Much Better (2012) and his self-titled CD, Joey Banks (2015)
