A few notes in, you know you like what you're hearing. A few notes later, you understand why. Rick Byers' music is as familiar, accessible, and comfortable as your own front porch. Whether it's the mellow slide of his mature baritone, the unmissable catch of energy in the up-beat of the rhythm, the carrying lift of the melody, or the smooth undertones of the bass, you can't help but feel that his songs are a homecoming to feel-good country music as it once was, is, and probably should be. Add to the mix heartfelt lyrics that stem from personal experience, and you hear a genuineness, a sincerity in his music that signifies each song as existing as more than a simple performance, but instead as a piece of music that has been lived rather than merely sung.
Rick Byers, Brian Bennet, Eric Clanton, Mark Edwards
He played and sang his way through open mics, small bars, and ad-hoc stages tucked away in corners of restaurants until, eventually, he was opening for widely known bands like Ricochet, Confederate Railroad, Neal McCoy, and Cam.
I started taking guitar lessons in 2006. Then I began writing music, honing my craft, performing on stage, and wound up airing a song, Me and You in 2009. I worked with a lot of musicians along the way and then, in 2017, brought Brian Bennett on as my lead guitarist, and a little later came Mark Edwards as drummer. Then we added Eric Clanton as our bassist. I'm blessed to play with some of the most talented musicians around, and I'm further blessed to call them friends.
He contributes his accomplishments to hard work and persistence. Music is a craft. You must treat it that way; you must be diligent, or you lose it, he advises. They hope to have a full-length album compiled, recorded, and released hopefully by the end of 2020.
