Plaza Jewish Community Chapel Mission Statement

Plaza Jewish Community Chapel is a not for profit corporation governed by an unpaid Board of Directors that includes rabbis from all of the major denominations, representatives of Jewish social service agencies, individuals who serve as lay leaders in synagogues and Jewish communal organizations. Our mission is to ensure that every member of the Jewish Community receives a dignified and respectful Jewish funeral; to lower the high cost of funerals by eliminating the profit motive and commercialism so often associated with the funeral industry; and to provide appropriate connections to Jewish communal resources that the bereaved may need to cope with emotional or practical problems.

Michael McFadden, Executive Director of Plaza Jewish Community Chapel.

Michael has been a licensed funeral director since 1971 and has spent the last 29 years providing funeral services to the Jewish community in the New York metropolitan area.

Stephanie Garry, Director of Community Relations

Since 2002 Stephanie has been Director of Community Relations for Plaza Jewish Community Chapel and truly considers it a “privilege” to be part of such a thoughtful, purposeful, community endeavor. Originally from the Midwest, Stephanie has always been involved in the Jewish Community. For 25 years Stephanie made a living as an actor appearing in over 1500 commercials all the while serving as President of Temple Shaaray Tefila, a Reform congregation in Northern Westchester from 1995-1997. Stephanie has also served as Community Outreach co- chair for the Westchester Chapter of The American Jewish Committee and currently sits on the North American Board of The Union for Reform Judaism where she is Chair of New Leaders.
