Mara Adamitz Scrupe is a visual artist and poet whose art exhibitions have received wide critical acclaim, with permanent commissions of her environmental public art projects in the U.S., Europe and China. Her essays and critical reviews have been published in magazines and periodicals and reprinted in art history volumes.

“My art practice employs environmentally proactive strategies,” she says. “Using my knowledge of botany, horticulture and alternative energy technologies, I attempt to call attention to and help save native and heirloom plants. For recent site projects I’ve located, identified, and rescued hundreds of important plants growing on lands slated for development.

Mara has taught and lectured nationally and internationally. She teaches and mentors students studying a range of disciplines across the University’s curricula including visual art, design, writing, dance, music and theater.
