Episode 174: Bad Hair Day with guest Adrienne Vincent Sutton

From the moment they are born, girls start their hair journey trying to manipulate it so they can have “good hair”.  Until they turn 18, their parents are basically in control of how they get good hair, especially if they aren’t born with it.  But what is good hair?  Who gets to define what’s good or bad?  Does it even matter? Unfortunately, society says it does.  And our guest this week, author Adrienne Vincent Sutton, has tackled the issue in her book “Bad Hair Day”.

Although the book is written for young and middle-grade readers, the topic is one many black girls and women must face.  Adrienne joins us in this episode to dive a bit deeper into the subject as we discuss if black hair is always a bad hair day.
