Episode 215:  Overcoming Our Identity Crisis with guest Norma Dougherty

Every day we see images in the media that define what beauty is. From Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Viola Davis, beauty pageant contests, these are the standards we rate ourselves against. But is all that glitters gold? Can women really have the glitz, glamour, and success they want? If so, what does it take to get it?

Beauty represented an escape to a better life for one poor farm girl. However, the path she embarked on was not exactly what she expected. Surrounded by all the glamour and bright lights and living a dream life, she still fell victim to many challenges women face. She found herself stuck in an identity crisis. How could that be, after all, was a beauty pageant winner? Wasn’t she pretty enough? Did she really have what it took to succeed? What was her true purpose in life? Could she ever really be loved for who she was?

In this episode, former Miss Dominion of Canada, international speaker, award-winning author, and youth mentor Norma Joyce Dougherty, joins us to talk about her journey from poverty to pageantry and what beauty really is. Tune in as we tackle the questions about what it takes for women to overcome their identity crisis and live a joy-filled life.
