IDLE NO MORE, a Canadian grass root movement, coupled with Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, has brought Canada’s “native” problem into the global spotlight.   It has polarized the Canadian political discourse, pitting the indigenous population and their supporters against a government that not only a year ago claimed on the world stage that Canada didn't have a history of colonialism.  This is another OKA standoff in the making, the first well-publicized violent conflict between First Nations and the Canadian government in the late 20th century.

Much is wrong with the “Harper” and previous governments imperial attitudes, demonization and marginalization of  First Nations people dating back 500 years.   The recent passing of the omnibus bill C-45, that not only weakens environmental protection laws protecting Canada's navigable waterways, but also affects native sovereignty.  This bill not only affects Canada’s native population, but affects all Canadians.

Please join Fred and Marg, on Lies My Country Told Me, IDLE NO MORE: Talking Revolution,  joined by DI host Darryl and frequent commentator on  DI and frequent DI and Lies commentator, Jeff to discuss the IDLE NO MORE movement and the history and continued demonization of Canada’s indigenous population .
