Tonight's special guest is Terence Rice from Eagle Rock, CA, an abuse survivor who also belongs to MaleSurvivor. Terence is a personal friend and neighbor of Bill Murray, NAASCA's founder and host of is the "Stop Child Abuse Now" talk show. Bill suggested Terence should appear tonight not only because he has both an important personal child abuse and recovery story, but also because of his professional experience. Mr. Rice works as an administrator with the Los Angeles County, Department of Children and Family Services, the county agency responsible for investigating reports of in-home child abuse and neglect. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and was a school teacher prior to his employment with the DCFS. He has presented information at various trainings and conferences ranging from his own recovery journey from incest to information about the child welfare system and the legal reporting requirements of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. His personal and professional affiliations include MaleSurvivor, Toastmaster's International, and the Los Angeles County Management Council. As a child welfare administrator, licensed therapist, and survivor of sexual abuse, he provides a unique perspective to a discussion of treatment and the healing process. Mr. Rice is married and has three children and his hobbies include photography, gardening and hiking.
