Tonight's special guest is Kristina Brown from Independence, Missouri, the Family Support Services Director at Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA), where the mission is to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals, families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing. Kristina has always been passionate about partnering with families in the effort to promote the healthy and holistic developmental growth of children. She truly believes that parents, as well as other family members, serve as a child's most important and influential teachers. As the Director of Family Support Services, Kristina supervises the implementation of the services offered through this department. She works directly with families and incorporates her past experience and knowledge to provide support and guidance to the programs of the Family Support Services Department. She enjoys seeing children and parents in their home environments, and believes that providing in-home support and education helps to strengthen the family unit. Kristina held the position of Family Support Case Manager here at CAPA before becoming the Director of Family Support Services. Prior to coming to CAPA in August of 2011, Kristina spent several years working as an instructor at the Berkley Child and Family Development Center, teaching within the field of Early Childhood Education.
