Tonight's special guest is Eugenea (Gina) Coutoure from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, one of NAASCA's most involved volunteer family members. At four years old, she was forced into the foster care system in southern Alberta. She tells her story in book 'Adoption Not An Option,' a powerful memoir that takes the reader through a cycle of four generations beginning with her great grandmother. As a child without her own family, Gina, who is in the third generation, faces a fractured existence in foster care. She desperately wants it to stop but is trapped in a broken system as she is forced to move through 11 homes. The challenges of finding good parents is nearly impossible and Gina becomes prey to multiple strangers. As an adult and mother, she was determined to never lose her own four kids, as her mother and grandmother had done in the past. Over the decades, Gina does an extensive manhunt to find her family but it comes to a dead halt when the Government refuses to open sealed records. Her refusal to never give up and burning desire turns into countless years of fights against legislation for her sibling rights. She peovdes resources to benefit others who are seeking for the birthright of their family. Gina's quite the advocate and we're delighted to have her ongoing and growing participation. In addition to co-hosting the 'For Our Kids' series of shows (looking at the rights of children and families in North America) Gina's now one of the small group of recurring hosts for other of our talk shows!
