Tonight's special guest is Gregory Williams, Ph.D, from Houston, Texas, a child abuse survivor and author of the book 'Shattered by the Darkness: Putting the Pieces Back Together after Child Abuse'. An activist now, he was abused in his family. "My first memory of being sexually abused by my father was when I was 4 years old and the last time was right before my 17th birthday. My dad sexually abused me every day of my childhood and then around 12 years old started involving his friends and several times I was ganged raped by them." He goes on, "I have two older brothers, one five years older than me and ten years older than me. My middle brother sexually abused me for a couple of years during my teenage years along with his girlfriend. In my early years, I literally thought that my abuse was “normal” and everybody's father abused them. But during my teenage years when other abusers came into the picture, life became increasingly more difficult and darker." Things are better now. "I am in a great place today emotionally and have never been more at peace in my entire life. I wish that I had released the pain years ago, but now taking advantage of this freedom as much as possible. I earned my doctorate in Counseling seven years ago and counsel many survivors. I now travel the country and share my story and help people deal with their trauma." Gregory's next two books, 'Overcoming the Darkness: The Road Map to Hope' and the youth version, 'When Dark Clouds Come: The Road Map to Hope' will be released in Spring of 2021.
