Tonight's special guest is Thomas Edward from Sacramento, California, an abuse survivor and activist who's the founder of Safe Place For Men, a male survivor resiliency and leadership development coaching organization tasked to help educate, coach, and equip men affected by childhood sexual abuse with strategies, insights, and support to accelerate healing. "Although very challenging in overcoming the taboo and stigmas surrounding male sexual abuse," he says, "it's rewarding to help other men reclaim life." As he travels speaking and conducting workshops across the nation, internationally or virtually, he shares his story. “I have been called the king of trauma. Chronically, sexually abused and raped at knife and gunpoint, forced, coerced, loved, violated and betrayed while burned with cigarettes and cut with glass during the incidents. He goes on, ". How did everyone else get the memo stating that I was fair prey, except for me?” Thomas often shares the arduous road to reclaiming life from low confidence, suicidal ideations, haphephobia all while working for the top Fortune 500 company. His path to recover and reclaim portions of himself, took him from Buddhist temples in China, to studying psychology, and becoming a licensed massage therapist to overcome the haphephobia. Since 2001 he's been creating safe haven weekend coaching and support workshops and online programs. His goal is to help men activate and accelerate healing by resolving imprints of sexual trauma via strength-based solutions coaching. He's a certified professional coach. He also serves as a board member for the 1in6 organization and consults and trains for CPS, “Turning Trauma into Triumph”.
