"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." ~ Matthew 11:28-30

God's perspective of work, like everything else, is monumentally different than ours... The problem with our perspective concerning matters pertaining to our lives and our quest for something other than ordinary living or merely existing, is that so precious little of our perspective - our view of ourselves, the world we live in and are called as followers of Christ to live above, and our view of the God who created both us and the world we live in - even remotely resembles God's perspective on the very same matters. And wouldn't you agree that His perspective matters most of all?

This is particularly true of the matters that concern us the most and serves as the most prevalent of our many distraction to following Christ and enjoying the benefits of kingdom living while we are yet traversing the kingdoms of this world. And where and on what do we on average spend the vast majority of our time and our attention, rather than to "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness" in order that the promise of material needs be met and multiplied,  or at the very least be added to, be fulfilled? Well, work.

But what we engage in in the plurality of our days, in our so-called work week, isn't really work at all... It's labor. Today, I want to examine the difference between work and labor from God's perspective, so that you know exactly which activity you're really engaged in, for better or for worse. That way, you will be both emboldened and empowered to change for a change... a positive change leading to the newness of life and vitality that a life following Christ has promised.
