We hear a lot these days about global competition for markets, manufacturing andjjobs, and the current "race to the bottom" for wages, or "bottoming out" of the job market. Local economies, built around cooperatives, present an alternative -- maybe even an antidote - to the roller coaster scenario of recovery/bubble/crash presented by the global economy. Today on Green Livelihood/Viviendo Verde Ya, co-hosts Dan Kerbein and Evelina Molina talk to activists who are building the new economy in their communities. First we introduce the concepts of the new green livelihood economy for our listeners, then jump right into an interview with Chris Oseguera, a director of the Eco-Workforce Collective at the North Bay Institute for Green Technologies, in Santa Rosa California.
