Annabel Ascher is tired of hearing the term "Class Warfare" used by the elites and the elite media to describe any kind of movement or legislation that would restore to the working people that which has been taken from us.

In this 30-minute discussion with Shift Shapers co-host Daniel Kerbein, she turns this meme on its head.

When you look at history, you see that warfare has been waged by the elites against the general population for more than 200 years. It has been played out through a steady process of taking away public property and resources (the commons) from the common people, and handing it over to corporations, developers, and other private hands.

We are in a state now where this seizure of the commons has taken away our public lands, airwaves, resources and water supplies, retitled our public landmarks with corporate names, turned the incarceration of offenders over to private prison firms.

Corporations even own - through a bizarre set of patent laws - plant species, including important food crops such as rice, corn and beans.

They even own parts of our very bodies! Yes, it's true. Got cancer? Want some university to research the cause & cure? No such luck. A corporation owns thoseinfected genes, and no research will be done until Hell freezes over, or Satan lets go of the patent.

Annabel Ascher points out that movements of old, such as the union strikes of the early 20th century, and new ones springing up in 2011 such as the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street, are the opposite of class warfare.

These movements, and any other ways that we raise our voices, are the resistance to the class warfare being waged on us by the elites.

Annabel Ascher is the newest member of the Shift Shapers team, appearing with us weekly on KBBF-FM 89.1 Calistoga, and of course on this podcast. She is also host of her own blog sites, The Frugal Goddess, and Annabel's Odyssey.
