Police Suicides remains as arguably the number one killer of police officers yet there are no Federal initiatives and few state initiatives to tackle this issue.  Politicians seek the endorsements of police unions, yet the many of the unions are either not presenting this ongoing problem to the politicians or not following up and pushing for more legislation.  How effective are “feel good” programs that individual departments institute?  Do the officers trust the people in the department running these programs?

What is it like to have been in a shooting?  What goes through you head?

Former Waco Police Claire Van Wolfe will be joining us to talk about how she felt having gone through such an event.

Betsy Brantner Smith: Owner Operator at JD Buck Savage, Spokesman at National Police Association,  Author at Officer.com,  Author at Police1,  Former Instructor at Calibre Press,  Former Police Sergeant at Naperville Police Department.

Sean Riley Founder of Safe Call Now: The organization was founded by former officer Sean Riley whose 20-year career in law enforcement ended in 2005 when he could no longer hide his "secret" behind the badge – addiction to alcohol and drugs. After a period of rehabilitation and recovery, Sean went back to college for substance abuse counseling. Later, he worked as a supervisor at a local treatment center where he witnessed a surprising amount of public safety and medical professionals coming in for treatment.
