Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn. The Anthony Broom Case

In September of 1979, the one of the very first hip hop groups released the song "Rapper's Delight".  Part of the lyrics state "Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn, say if your girl starts acting up then you take her friend.  Well on June 24th, 1981, Anthony Broom was living in room 539 of the Holiday Inn in Winter Haven, FL.  At some point in the early morning hours, Anthony's girlfriend arrived at his room.  Anthony was a Vietnam veteran who slept with his handgun under his pillow.  After letting his girlfriend Charlotte Martz in, Anthony went back to sleep to be woken up by his door slamming.  Charlotte had left the room and told Anthony if he was going to sleep that she would return home.  Anthony let Charlotte back in and left his room to purchase a coca cola to mix drinks with.  When Anthony returned, he found Charlotte lying on the pillow, with a gunshot wound to the left side of her head.  Anthony called the first desk asking the attendant to call for an abulance and he began to attempt CPR on Charlotte.  Responding officers concluded the incident was either an accidential self inflicted gun shot wound or a suicide.  The medical examiner found traces of GSR on Charlotte's left hand and agreed with the self infliction.  Witnesses report hearing a loud bang which woke them up, however no arguing before hand.  How then did the lead detective state in the arrest warrant charging Anthony with First Degree Murder that witnesses heard loud arguing then a gunshot?  Did Anthony Broom kill Charlotte then have an ambulance called and attempt CPR up until the time police arrived?  Or was the gun mishandled and false statements presented to the jury?  Tune in this Wednesday as we discuss the Anthony Broom case.
