Hawtencia A. Inniss, Author and Artist

BIOGRAPHY
Hawtencia A. Inniss, affectionately known as Joy and Tenci, is from St. Thomas, United States
Virgin Islands. She graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands in 1998, with her
Bachelor of Art in Psychology. Prior to relocating to Fayetteville she was a teacher. She taught
from first grade through high school. Hawtencia relocated to Fayetteville in 2006 where she was
employed as a Mental Health Professional and a teacher. In 2017, she obtained a Master of
Science Degree in Psychology and shortly after that became a Certified Life Coach. In 2020,
Hawtencia became the Owner of Tenci Creative Designs,LLC and has been creating art and
writing children storybooks. She has published two children storybooks and is preparing to
publish her third book. Through writing and sharing her books she has been developing ways to
assist administrators, parents, teachers, and children to address mental health issues in the
classroom.
