The trigger for this project was the day when David Bowie
died - Peter Cook appeared on CNN to comment. He was filled
with a complex set of emotions - at some level he considered
David Bowie immortal, having grown up and lived with his
groundbreaking changes in our outlook on many things, not
just music. With a heavy heart he went to London, quite
unable to foresee what was about to happen.
After the CNN broadcast, some music friends contacted him
about building a tribute concert. Through further
conversations with Patti Russo, songstress with Queen,
Meatloaf etc. and Sir Paul McCartney and Queen's Monitor
Engineer John Callis, Peter decided to see if we could scale
the approach to global proportions.
Peter's business skills, a passion for healthcare and my
music background together to organise a series of "Live Aid"
concerts around the world, starting with "Rock Against
Cancer" in May 2016 and scaling up to a series of major
events in Summer 2017 all around the world, possibly
culminating with something like The Glastonbury Festival to
be the pinnacle of the project.
To do this, Peter created perfectly formed professional
project team in place to raise the capital to run the main
project. Hence the Kickstarter campain, Facebook group, Twitter followers, and little help from our friends this project will be a success!
