"...and our flag was still there". These were words written in a song about the Red White and Blue banner of America after a bloody battle. The song then goes on and talks about Black prisoners of war being killed alongside the British attackers who promised them freedom. Neither the British or Americans freed any Black people but Black people honored their flags and fought for their countries.

Then,Marcus Garvey came and he said that our land was in Africa. He said the Red was the Blood, the Black was our unity, and the green was the land we had... in Africa. Shortly afterwards the great Garvey was arrested and deported and many Garveyites never made it to the plush green of the motherland represented on his flag, Many on the African continent were as disconnected with Garvey's vision as the Black people in the USA were who helped him see it. Thousands of miles away from Africa's closest shore many Black people who lived by this liberation flag died never experiencing the liberation it promised.

Before Marcus Garvey was forcefully torn from the states he said "Show me the race or the nation without a flag, and I will show you a race of people without any pride." Well, If Black people were never free with Red White and Blue and The Red Black and Green was just a dream, what do Black people have but their Blackness? Nobody can take away the pride they feel in their Black. No matter what land Black people are on they are Black and No one can take away the freedom of being Black! Next #2RAW4TV we will have a critical conversation about the new wave (literally) for Black people with Chance (@Blackflagatl), president of Black Flag Productions, LLC. FLY THE BLACK FLAG FOR BLACK PEOPLE! Join us for this conversation about representation, reparations, and what it takes to be a Black Nation.
