Flake Rates have been used to determine who is showing up to volunteer today at the campaign office. How many will be a no show, how many will no show and then come back another day, how many are newly coming in. I studied Behavioral Sciences in school and chose to look at an area "Ethics" in Volunteer Managment. In that are some pretty high guidleines of appropriate interaction with volunteers, ways to recruit, retain, and reward their engagement. It was really pretty easy to understand. Lo and behold as I came into the Obama Campiagn during the summer of 2008, I came in as a volunteer. What better way to see the "Respect, Empower, and Include" in action? I am sharing with you today what my experience was and the experience of others that I witnessed as they managed the roll of volunteer. This is why I say, no more volunteering. We want jobs.

In closing, I hope you will learn how very sly this "flake rate" works and how it benefits the systems that uses it to determine population's willingness to participate and why they discourage citizen participation by purging voter rolls etc. Listen in and I will share some organizing tips you may not have heard and if you heed my adivce you may retain volunteers, staff, employees and loyalty by maintaning ethics in volunteer managment.
