Let Them Shine is the fourth category in my book titled Employee Recognition: 52 Ways to Recognize Your Employees in Ways They Value.

Shine is an adjective, defined as to give forth or glow with a light; shed or cast light. Imagine not only this sentence but this reality in your company:

We strive to shine lights on the stars of our company - our employees - whose strengths, talents and successes are the foundation for our shared successes, today and tomorrow.

Here is another definition: to be bright with reflected light, glisten, sparkle.

Each employee is positioned to shine not only with our company but with all of our vendors, partners and customers. As they shine, our company shines.

Far too many companies are like the farmer whose land sits on top of a diamond field. As they toil in the hot sun, battling the weather and the economy, the rising costs of fertilizer and tractors they ignore the diamonds on which they walk.

You’re looking for ways to uncover those diamonds around you, beside you, on the floors above and below you. You know that if you let them shine, if you shine your light on their brilliance, your company will glisten in the marketplace.

The metaphor is almost over the top. But employee recognition is nothing more than shining your light of appreciation on those who build your company, providing a place for their own light of strengths and talents to shine and be seen and appreciated.

In this last category, I've listed 13 ways to help you shine your light on your employees, let them shine their light of achievements and engagement. I've added a few quotes to keep you inspired along the way.
