Genesis 31:21 Jacob Departs With His Family
21 So he fled with all that he had; and he arose and crossed the Euphrates River, and set his face toward the hill country of Gilead.
Laban was angry because Jacob had left with what he considered to be his including the children God had given Jacob. Christ came into this world and produced a flock of His own, and where did He get them from? From the world who continues to try and reclaim the Children of Christ through intimidation and persecution. In this case Laban represents the world going after what belongs to God.
