SDG 132 The Parable of the Lost Sheep, Silver and Son
Luke 15
Were you ever closer to God than you are right now? If so, do you desire to get back to God or are you afraid there’s no way back? Well there IS hope and your relationship can be restored or established if you've never had one. Today we are going to study a passage from Luke 15 that’s both a classic and a blessing where Jesus tells us how much God loves us. Now maybe you're thinking "But you don’t understand, I've sinned so much. I have gone so far. I have refused so long that God’s written me off. There’s just no hope for me.” Well if so I pray this message changes your mind. In Luke 15: 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. So the Pharisees came to hear the Lord Jesus Christ and they were criticizing the Lord Jesus Christ for spending time with publicans and sinners. But the Lord Jesus Christ goes on and teaches that He loves us all. So please understand that God loves you and like the title of the song says: Jesus: Friend of Sinners. So I rejoice that He’s a friend to sinners, don’t you? Now when they criticized the Lord Jesus, Jesus gave a parable and a parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. So Jesus told these three stories, about a sheep, silver and a son and the Bible says that here He gave a parable. Now some think there are three parables here in Luke 15 but, really it’s a parable with three parts to it. And in this parable Jesus talks about a lost sheep, lost silver and a lost son as He tells them of their needs, and why He loves them. And it all applies to us here and now!
So tune in to learn about the sinful nature of man and the saving nature of God!
