In this episode of Gaslighting, Dan Sullivan interviews the wife of an OIF veteran about their family's attempts to schedule a National Burn Pit Registry Exam at their local VA. This problem is not unique to the family interviewed in this podcast and the experiences recounted here are reportedly a common occurrence for veterans seeking to schedule an exam. Environmental Health Coordinators in many VA facilities seem to be unaware of how to schedule a Burn Pit Registry exam or sometimes are even unaware that it exists. Some seem to confuse the Gulf War Registry Exam with the Burn Pit Registry Exam.
Burn Pits 360 has received confirmation from the Director of Post 9/11 Health, Dr. Michael Montipoli, that there are in fact 2 different exams and that both can be scheduled in a single visit. Why there is so much confusion about this issue is unclear.
