Repeat of February 1, 2011 show.
Music, visual art, dance, literature and spoken word have long been a part of social justice movements. The power of the arts to move, inspire and embolden people as they wrestle toward change is unparalleled. In this episode of CL-Exchange OnAir, we are joined by musician, conductor and vocalist Charles Dickerson, music director of the Southern California-based Southeast Symphony. Maestro Dickerson's latest work sets Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech to music. He will discuss what inspired him to pursue such an ambitious project as well as share his thoughts about the role musicians can and should play in contemporary social justice movements.
