HCCI was founded more than three decades ago by a group of clergy who wanted to improve the lives of Harlem residents. Their churches and houses of worship implemented a plan that transformed the Harlem community. Now many of these entities are in decline. On this show we'll discuss how we can make a difference. Community activist and journalist Valerie Jo Bradley is co-author of Harlem Travel Guide, the first tour book to focus exclusively on Harlem. She currently serves as President of Save Harlem Now!, a membership not-for-profit advocacy organization dedicated to protecting, preserving and celebrating Harlem’s irreplaceable built heritage.
Rev. Dr. Nigel Pearce, Pastor, Grace Congregational Church of Harlem
A former Wall Street broker, in addition to serving as Pastor of Grace Congregational Church of Harlem, Dr. Pearce has served on the Board of Directors for The Lighthouse, the Samaritan Health Services, Make-A-Wish Foundation and now currently serves on the board of HCCI and Chiarperson of the real estate committee.
Beatrice Sibblies, BOS Development
BOS Development is a real estate and community development firm based in Harlem. Formed in 2005 by Beatrice Sibblies, BOS Development’s platform is to develop the spectrum of projects necessary for a vibrant community. In its debut transaction, BOS Development successfully developed a 74-unit residential cooperative apartment on a 99-year ground lease from a church, which proved to be one of the fastest selling developments in Harlem.
