This week, Ann interviews British children's book author and artist Giles Andreae. Andreae, who also writes under the name Edward Monkton, will share his message of love and happiness and how we can cultivate this in our children and ourselves.
Giles Andreae is the creator of Purple Ronnie and The Interesting Thoughts of Edward Monkton, iconic cartoon figures in the UK. With millions of greetings cards and books sold, these cartoon characters hasve made Giles the UK’s top selling living poet and an icon of contemporary popular culture.
In 2010 the BBC commissioned Giles to write and direct his own series of 13 animated short stories for children about love and happiness titled World of Happy by Giles Andreae. Giles was awarded the 2011/2012 Gold book award by Practical Parenting & Pregnancy magazine.
Giles has had many other children’s books published, several of which have won national and international awards. They include Rumble in the Jungle, Giraffes Can't Dance, Commotion in the Ocean, Pants and Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs.
Giles lives with his wife, Victoria, a children’s clothes designer, and their 4 young children by the river in Oxfordshire.
