Since I've been doing it for a few years now, I'll share my perspective, areas of success and a few trials and errors you may be able to avoid. In the words of Mark Twain, we need to learn from other's mistakes, we won't live long enough to make them all ourselves.   Join me today.  www.thelandofgoshen.com,  www.goshengazette.net 00:12:00lastdaysnoformat,simple,basic,down to earth,Mark TwainGood Monday afternoon.  I'm figuring out a format and will be introducing it as we progress through the week.  Today we're going to address The Other 1 PercentReligiously Incorrecthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/22/religiously-incorrectCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/22/religiously-incorrect/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/22/religiously-incorrectFri, 22 Feb 2013 21:30:00 GMTReligiously Incorrect Good Friday afternoon.  Can you believe it, the week is about to come to an end?  Today is Preparation Day, making ready for a complete day of rest, on Sabbath; and then Sunday there is also the celebration of Purim, documented in the book of Esther. It's not one of the High Holy Days, so we can cook and bake goodies to share.  Other than commemorating the amazing deliverance of the Jewish people from Haman, and reading the entire book of Esther that day, the traditions that abound are all man-made, so I'm careful not to get too caught up. I bake and I share the story, and I share the baked good with those who will listen to the story. Join me today and let's appreciate together, the fact it is Friday. 00:11:00lastdaysnopreparation,Friday,Purim,Esther,SabbathGood Friday afternoon.  Can you believe it, the week is about to come to an end?  Today is Preparation Day, making ready for a complete day of rest, on SabbathReligiously Incorrecthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/21/religiously-incorrectCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/21/religiously-incorrect/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/21/religiously-incorrectThu, 21 Feb 2013 22:00:00 GMTReligiously Incorrect I'm struggling today with my computer connection, so if the show begins late or ends early, it's because I have no control over what is happening with the internet, today . . . or any day for that matter. When people of any religion talk about their faith or their God, how does it affect their life?  How does our own belief or disbelief affect our life, our actions, our attitudes, our interaction?  It used to be people felt their religious beliefs were to be considered personal and a private matter not open to discussion.  Seems now, a different story Join me this afternoon, won't you?  00:14:00lastdaysnoreligion,beliefs,rituals,society,faithGood afternoon.  I'm truthfully embarassed about yesterday.  Here as I try to get myself organized, I discovered I had set my alarm on the other computer.   LReligiously Incorrecthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/15/religiously-incorrectCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/15/religiously-incorrect/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2013/02/15/religiously-incorrectFri, 15 Feb 2013 21:30:00 GMTReligiously IncorrectA real quick mentioned today. We aren't non-conformists, per say, there is just a group of people often seen as cult like, who are choosing to simplify, seek Scriptural answers, and opting out of more recognized conventional cultural practices.  That's who we are. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce a new venue for information.  Many of us have been troubled by the inundation of conflicting information, often seeming even to be misleading.  I have accepted the position of editor of a new source of news called The Goshen Gazette. Thanksgiving in America has officially become "Opening Day of Shopping Season" and it has many comparisons to hunting and fishing and all "sports" that involve an opening day! I find some of the headlines to read as if the Big Box Stores would be reminiscent of the days of colliseums and without a doubt some of the shopping appears to be gladiator style. It seems, rather than great deals, it's that products are in short supply and limited quantity that make this event grow more intense and earlier every yaer. I happen to remember what I think was the beginning of this, at last in my adult life and it was over a Cabbage Patch Doll, Supply and Demand is as old as capitalism.  Now with amazing ways to advertise, and with digital ease of inventory it's so easy to "cause" the demand and limit the supply. I want to talk today about thankfulness, but also address the stress that many of us feel through this "holiday season."  The other 1 percent, celebrates Scriptural holidays, and the Feast of Sukkot is sort of the prototype for Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is the abbreviated copy of the Holy Week, and has really begun to be the "official" kick off for the shopping season that culminates in Christmas. Since I celebrate Holy Days rather than the traditional holidays, I am not as involved as many are in the stress and pressure of making all these events worthy of greeting cards and magazine covers.  When I worked a secular job, before I was in ministry, I always signed up to work holidays.  The pay was good and the stress was less. If family gathers are stressful, remember tomorrow is just one day in 365, actually 366 this year, and that in itself is more than enough for which to be thankful. 00:12:00lastdaysnoThanksgiving,stress,shopping,tradition,thankfulGood Wednesday morning.  For many this is the last day of the work week this week, but nowhere near the end of the work! Where we personally stand politically is basically irrelevant, but where we stand before G-d is of utmost importance.  Our nation has assisted both sides of this conflict and we need to realize we will be accountable, and accountable not just to the UN, but to a Higher Authority. We've sent direct aid to Israel for many years, but we've also been very instrumental in pushing Israel to make concessions in "the peace process" which appears to be anything but peaceful!  America has also been instrumental in trading and contracting arms and military equipment with countries that will clearly aid Israel's enemy, regardless of who that is. Bottom line, America claims to refuse to deal with Hamas because they have been labeled a terrorist organization.  America's war on terror is interesting, to say the least.   We truly do, as individuals, need to find out just where our country stands, regardless of what is being reported! 00:11:00lastdaysnoMiddle East,Israel,Palestinians,America,HamasGood morning.  Our regularly scheduled "The Other 1 Percent" is being pre-empted today.  I feel compelled to discuss the Middle East, Israel and Hamas, specifiThe Other 1 Percenthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/11/19/the-other-1-percentCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/11/19/the-other-1-percent/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/11/19/the-other-1-percentMon, 19 Nov 2012 14:30:00 GMTThe Other 1 Percent Good Monday Morning!  Was that a quick week-end or is it just me? I want to talk about working with our hands today.  Somehow in our society that became something to really kind of look down up.  What's with that?  I get rather amuzed as these college boys "wanna be geeks" as they speak their technonese like they'll be the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates,   I guess they don't realize that these two guys were actually using their hands building something and oh by the way, had such spirit about it that they weren't spending their parent's money or racking up loans to stay in college.  I'm by far not against education, but I am against mental programming and the idea that a piece of paper reflects intelligence.  Didn't anyone see The Wizard of Oz? What conservative Christians had called a cult for years and years, became acceptable and even godly, according to many. I know I don't agree with what is transpiring, but Scripture said believers shouldn't agree, but we can't fight it with earthly means . . .so in following Messiah's footsteps as he lived in Roman ruled Israel, I shall live and thrive in the kingdom of heaven, even though for now, Rome is still ruling the earthly portion . . . The changing of the clocks always brings to mind, the passage in Daniel where the times and laws are changed without regard to G-d.   I'm not saying it's this simple, but it could be.  Considering our nation is all in a uproar about being G-dly and electing the right people to run it from a human perspective of right and wrong, but calling it G-dly really does concern me.   On to our topic today.  Tomorrow is the big election day in America and I truly cannot imagine how barren the FB walls will be Wednesday, except of course, for the big debate about who actually won fairly . . . I just don't see this as a good outcome, either way.  It's as if the choices are becoming more and more, les and less.  The outrage is huge, but the differences don't seem all that significant. Never underestimate the methods G-d can use to get our attention.  I've been excited about what I'm called to do for a long time and I was almost foolish enough to let someone more foolish than I, shut me down.  I won't use the term, bully, but there is an open intolerance toward "those who would come out from among them and be separate!"  And that's what we're going to talk about today.  If you're not marching in the material mainstream, it's okay, as a matter of fact, it's probably just exactly where you're supposed to be.  And if you're not on the political edge of your seat, that's okay, regardless of the intolerant judgment of the self-proclaimed "informed" of either party.  I've now weathered the worst possible scenario I could imagine and I've put it completely behind me, completely . . .  We're looking at an election two weeks from today and we've got work to do and things to discuss.  So, Good-bye distractions, Hello PLAN!00:15:00lastdaysnoplan,vision,mainstream,politics,distractionGood day!  Welcome back to the The Other 1 Percent.  To say I've been under the weather, would be an under statement, and the weather has been wonderful for theThe Other 1 Percenthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/08/09/the-other-1-percentCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/08/09/the-other-1-percent/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/kbtz/2012/08/09/the-other-1-percentThu, 09 Aug 2012 14:00:00 GMTThe Other 1 Percent Good Thursday morning!  Our topic today is doubt and lack of confidence.  You may wonder, in all my discussion of encouragement and gifts, why this would even be a topic.  Well, first and foremost, lack of confidence is the strongest quality I have, naturally.  So, I know a bit about getting through that part and I'm still learning more.  To be successful in our G-d given gifts, we have to acknowledge our weaknesses and face them . . . one way or another.
