The Downside of Our Trash and Garbage – How Our Stuff is Aff

We love to acquire new things, whether new gadgets, appliances, or other stuff.  Even with the increasing availability of recycling programs, all our stuff gets translated into trash and garbage.  The issue of running out of landfill space has been publicized for years.  However, could there be other downsides to the amount of refuse that we produce?  Are there any solutions – and what could you do about it?   Diane Brandon is joined this week by Edward Humes, a Pulitzer Prize winning Journalist and author of several books, including his newest, Garbology.  Mr. Humes has studied this issue thoroughly and shares some interesting information on what we could be doing differently and how that would benefit the environment, as well as us.
